While it’s true Roku has hundreds of channels that you can find in their marketplace some of which are paid and some are free it’s access to Roku’s private channels that can give you more bang and most channels are free or offer free service plans.
There are many channels of all kinds of different tastes and genres. So whatever your geek is chances are you may just find a channel that you want to binge on.
How to install a private channel
When you install a Roku channel you normally just select one from the Roku marketplace menu and it will install automatically. With a private channel you need to know the code that represents the channel and manually enter it when you log into your account on the official Roku website.
Pick a channel that you want to install
You first need to find a channel to install. You can do this by Googling “private Roku channels” or head over to a site that lists them like Stream.tv and find a channel there.
Add the channel to your Roku account
On your computer go to Roku.com and sign into your account and access the My Account page. Click the “Add a Channel” link. You’ll need to use the same Roku account you linked to your Roku device.
Enter the code in the box
Type the private channel’s code — also known as a “channel access code” or “invitation code” — into the box on Roku’s website. Click “Add Channel” and the channel will be added to your Roku account and queued for installation on your Roku.
Refresh your Roku device
You could wait 24 hours for the system to do this automatically but why wait? From the main screen where your channel list is and you have options on the side open the Settings screen, select System, select System update, and select “Check now.” Your Roku will automatically download any new private channels you’ve added.
